Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard about the Nourishing Hope for Autism Summit that has everyone talking about the new science that proves there are ways to improve many of some of our challenging symptoms!
The world is being Bamboozled into believing that autism and SPD can be ignored because there’s not much that can help us. Did you know that’s not true? And how many of us there actually are now? Statistics show that 1 in 36 children are now on the autism spectrum. (1 in 28 boys!)
Unfortunately, TODAY is the last day for the discounted purchase option for the Summit. And they take pay pal credit too! So if you need it ( And you likely DO!- trust me. I have It.) be sure not to miss this great bundle price. Tomorrow the price goes up.
Of the presentations I’ve heard thus far/ the speakers (Most of whom I’ve heard speak on these topics at least once) are exceptional!
See some of exactly what you’ll end up missing if you don’t claim your free access pass now HERE. At least to catch a possible free replay.
Here’s the Press Release on Julie Matthew’s Nourishing Hope website. It’s a briefer easier read then the full study. And supports what some of the Functional Medicine and Autism world has been saying now for initially about a little over a decade ago. http://nourishinghope.com/arizona-state-university-study-proves-that-nutrition-and-dietary-intervention-effective-at-improving-autism/?inf_contact_key=3231dc7280accc66e9c76c317919f4580ebf1a22183ef5e5cedb94be309e371

Arizona State University Study Proves
That Nutrition And Dietary Intervention
Effective at Improving Autism
Contrary to historical medical beliefs and public education and perception, new controlled twelve-month study by Arizona State University professor shows a direct and irrefutable correlation between nutrition and healing autism symptoms.
“The positive results of this study confirm that a comprehensive nutritional and dietary intervention is proven and effective in improving non-verbal IQ, Autism behaviors, developmental age, and other symptoms in most individuals with ASD,” says Dr. James Adams, Director of the Autism/Asperger’s Research Program at Arizona State University.

The study measured the effects of six nutritional interventions introduced over the course of a year, including supplementation and a healthy allergen-free diet.

Many people will be able to understand the Press Release. It is much shorter and easier to digest then the full study which is more suited for health professionals who specialize in helping this community. The full study is also for parents and HF adults who can understand the full study. And those whom can accept the realities it supports.
To your health,
Julie Matthews, Founder, BioIndividual Nutrition Institute
Founder, Nourishing Hope for Autism
This post is mostly written buy the Julie Matthews team after the first two paragraphs- What bothers ASD and SPD children is often also what bothers adults with it as well. Whether your aware of it or not. Research backs this up.
I’m personally defiantly most interested in seeing the series of 5 “practitioner level” talks, which we will replay on a special encore day. I hope they will offer knowledge to me that isn’t heavily recycled from other Summit’s/books/speakers.
I am thrilled to invite you to the Nourishing Hope for Autism Summit – Free Online!
For 16 years, Julie Matthews of Nourishing Hope has provided scientifically based nutrition strategies that heal the symptoms and behaviors associated with Autism, ADHD, ADD and other developmental delays. Now, she has gathered twenty five leading experts to present the science, their clinical results, and steps parents can take right in their own kitchen to help their children with Autism.
Starting today, you can register to attend the online summit for free here:
Along the way you will:
– Discover nutrition and related strategies proven to improve the health, learning, and behavior of those with autism.
– Hear from scientists and wellness professionals together in conversation about how children with autism can recover – and how food, diet, and nutrition choices, as well as functional medicine strategies, can help.
– Learn about the underlying biochemistry of autism, therapeutic diets, supplements, and remedies that are supportive, and environmental toxins to avoid.
The strategies you will learn are science-backed approaches that are effective at improving the symptoms of autism and related childhood disorders.
Register at the URL//link above
This summit is unique because it focuses in on diet and nutrition to improve autism and related disorders – and is a cohesive educational event. Each conversation will leave you with actionable takeaways you can try at home, research further, or ask your physician about.

PS- This post is on this blog because the Summit is very specific to those who are meant to benefit from this specific blogs topic(s). While the Summit certainly may also help those with MCS and others, it is certainly more geared for helping those with complex IBS, Intestinal Permeability, and Sensory Processing Disorders.
PSS- And we have a series of 5 “practitioner level” talks, which we will replay on a special encore day. I’ll share more on those in the coming weeks
Healthy at Home is a 4 week paid course focused on non toxic living. Starting on April 3rd. How to make your living space non toxic will make your sensory issues challenging or calmer and more manageable. While Meghan and Josh certainly aren’t sensory solution or ASD experts. Nor are they MCS experts. So, there will be suggestions that won’t work for you. They know how to live non toxic lives. To learn more go here now http://www.meghantelpner.com/?refer=425
Once on the above website scroll down a little to Healthy at Home. Then click learn more, for the details and an intro video.
I’m taking this course. To make sure I know everything I can on this topic. (In case I don’t know it all already). Also, for other reasons- that if you sign up you could learn. But, NOT because I don’t know how to live non-toxict.
I posted about a Summit I Very HIGHLY recommend! It’s on my http://onlineconferences4us.disabilityadvocate1.com/ . That applies to everyone and it started today for FREE! It’s only free for 6-8 days. So go sign up for it/pay for it NOW.
This does NOT mean I recommend everything the speakers say.
People with SPD, ADHD, ASD, any environmental Illness, and many others require more recovery time via sleep, then others. But other things require sleep too- Plants, Flowers, and Animals, if you really think about it.
Without the right amount of quality sleep allot of things alive today would be, well dead, or medically less healthy. It even effects your Sensory Processing Disorder’s daily tolerance intake. Which can effect what you eat and how you feel physically as well as mentally. And we do know that Sensory Processing Disorder has a mental component to it. Don’t we?
Therefore go visit here and sign up for, attend, and possibly purchase the Sleep Summit! Going on NOW!
Today I created a change.org petition so that people with SPD, Roscia, ASD, IBS, / and a number of other conditions could live healthier more easily. Making your own soups are not hard at all. IF you have already the right broth or base for them. Making other dishes more appetizing or possible will also be a possibility then. Allot of stock or broth isn’t very healthy for people who can’t tolerate any of the unnecessary added ingredients in all created stocks and broths on the market that are pre-made. Most of which has onion/high sodium. Both of which aren’t sensory friendly. And in some cases are highly unhealthy. Creating your own is very time-consuming. And you create with it allot of extra poultry, meat, veggies/seafood at times with it. Which you may then eventually throw out especially if your only cooking for 1/2 people. So, if I get enough signatures. I will try to get a manufacturer to create for us 1/more broths that work for us. Please go here for more details. To sign, possibly comment on, and certainly share. Thanks!
Nov 13-16 th. This yr, (VERY SOON) there will be a National Autism Conference, mainly for parents, professionals, and maybe a few disability advocates- in Pete Beach, Florida! In that order of attendee focus. Bolded wording starts here- However, I believe it could also be helpful for some parents and professionals who help those with ADHD, PDD, PSD, the new social communication disorder, and possibly for parents with children with Roscia, or severe digestion issues. Including parents of kids with MCS. Partly, as inspiration. Folks attending for help on any of the bolded words do, need to very carefully select what they attend however. However, as far as ASD conferences go, (And I’ve now attended atleast a dozen) most offline. I strongly feel, it is, mostly geared for professionals and parents working with people classified, or who fit (Possibly not diagnosed) within the entire range of ASD. Bold ended at the previous ASD. Thier also was (And will be for conferences after this one) a limited number of single scholarships available mainly for desperately needed, parents.
It will be held at what claims to be a unique resort, where the staff is not only geared towards a family atmosphere. But also, have some autism training and awareness behind them as well! They say there an autism friendly resort. They even offer GF food options, at atleast one of there restaurants! I hope, it’s not GF sweets and junk food! Our community has way to much of that already. It’s pet friendly, both of which, could be GREAT for your ASD child and possibly your pocketbook too! I’m sure, babysitting services won’t be cheap, but, in that case, there’s actually hope, it might actually be good! How awesome would that be!? Have you seen the room variety or resort activity options?! I have! Check the last URL on the website obtained from the last link below.
The resort looks and sounds very impressive!
The conference itself, (without) lodging, food, and travel expenses is fairly cheap for what it is. About 100$ -$200 per person. (A professional US conference on a weekend normally is 250-600 per attendee. The reason I would say this one is possibly cheaper is,
1. Because the speakers are mainly functional medicine experts (Not doctors, or traditionally trained professionals.) this year, the biggest two, are Julie Matthew’s and Temple Grandin, who is the key note. Atleast a couple of the speakers are parents of autistic children. Atleast two of the speaker’s are on the spectrum. Julie (Not Julie Matthew’s, and Temple Grandin). See the speaker URL below.
2. It’s ran buy a National Autism Organization which probably has a nice pool of money coming in annually. Not to mention the cost of their Sponsors coming in. Some of which is from large corporations and companies.
3. It’s in a cheaper part of the country.
4. I’m guessing (Like an educated guess) but, it sounds like it’s held there annually. Why else would the resort be autism trained? An autism summer camp attends it? Less likely, but, I guess possible.
5. It’s geared towards parents a lot (Professionals, have there business, cover atleast part of it’s admission often).
6. It’s 3 days and they realize missing work is more likely, so they want to encourage attendance.
7. The recession. This one would be last, except it isn’t, because of why I needed 8 to be last.
Number reason 8 Is at the very bottom of this post. Buy the way, coming up with these 8 reasons was a piece of cake for me. The execution. And wording of it. Is a different story.
If you look at many of the topics addressed, you will see sensory issues, and environmental toxicity, as main topics. Did you notice the resort even has a Sensory Room for children? Who would of expected that!? This and it’s functional medicine slant, is all why I’m posting about it on this blog. The number one reason in my mind to go to something like this isn’t, to go broke, add more stress to your life, or honestly even too learn more info. (Although, you SHOULD learn more info.) it’s for networking. It’s too in grave that support exists, others have similiar challenges, to inspire, and to give you hope! Why do you think Temple, is so often the Keynote Speaker for them?
I can, do, and or will connect you already (Or hope to, provide you accept it) all these things to some degree. However, having it live, can take it to a whole new level for you. Especially, as a parent.
I recognize my wording is typically (NT) wrong in how I describe the resort. I in no way mean to degrade the resort or any of their employees. I applaud any positive efforts on there part. And I love that they have microwaves and refrigerators in atleast many of there rooms. However, some of my audience easily, directly, and succinctly for me, need the truth. And that is the best way, I know how to communicate it. Also, I recognize first hand, not only with my own issues. But, being in situations ect, with others with ASD. How challenging accomodating, and working with people with PSD, ASD, and other issues like it, can be. I know, especially working at a resort. How that magnifies even more, those challenges. Because, unless the resort staff literally, monthly, has several ASD visitors to deal with, and there parents, ect. (And I’d be shocked if that was the case) It’s impossible, for them all to be experts on caring for your children. Unless, of course they all excelled first at teaching kids of all ages in an ASD/ADHD exclusive setting. Like in a school for sp. needs students with these conditions. I get, leaving your child with a stranger. Esp. In a NEW territory for you AND that child is very hard. And possibly scary. And I KNOW, how hard, change, can be on the ASD individual, as well.
Buy the way, I should mention (I think,) since I know some would care. And it will teach you the tone of the conference too. Number 8 (From above) is, Autism Speaks backs and helps support this conference, and likely the organization as well.
http://nac.nationalautismassociation.org/speakers/speaker-bios/ This is my fav., conference detail page.
http://nac.nationalautismassociation.org/accommodations/autism-friendly If you have children, or want to check out the resort, in depth, after reading this brief page. Click on the Trade winds link at the bottom the page.
This aimed to be smaller font- I know, this is last second. And I can’t do anything about that. But, like I said in atleast 1 other post. These organizations 1 a yr, or more, have similiarly focused conferences, (Atleast in America, and likely in the UK, Europe, and Canada too). I’m not posting about them every time. This might be my only year I post about the National Autism Societies Conference.
If you’ve been hear long enough, you might. But, are you a women, or in love with one? Do you have (Even if only possibly) gluten intolerance or celiac disease? Anyone with Celiac’s, gluten intolerance, or wheat allergy, needs support and a positive community of like minded educated people to have the BEST healthy lifestyle, they can have, to be at there best 24 hours a day. 7 days a week. Eliminating gluten, very likely, won’t need to be your only step to achieve your optimum functioning. However, it should be one of your first steps. If you have ADHD, schizophrenia, ASD, pyroluria, or are part of the majority of my readers. And are a women, or supports one who has any of the above. You need to check out this FREE online conference which is hosted buy a best selling, GF author, who is an international speaker on GF, and who even has a GF online school. Her name, is Jennifer Fugo!
“The Women’s Gluten Free” online conference is free, only till September 12th. And literally just started. Every day there are assigned speakers. About 4, each speaker jam packs there advice into 30 minutes. So your guaranteed, to have more time in your day!
Not only that, I even asked her to arrange the “Could Leaky Gut Be the Reason Your Still Sick?” speaker for my reader’s! She chose the title, I chose the topic, and suggested a speaker for it. I also suggested to her, to address some other food sensitivities in her summit! And now she has, with more then 1 speaker! Which you’ll see if you click the below link and sign up. This topic seriously, (Outside of auto-immune disease and GI,) is not addressed enough in free online conferences. Jennifer and I would love to have you! I’ve teamed up with her team for this, as an affiliate. Don’t you want the right advice to be at your best daily? If so, please click here.
Thank you! And see you there!
Some of what I’m going to say in this post is extremely disturbing. I feel uncomfortable even stating it. But, will be relieved once it’s out. So, if your having a bad day you MiGht want to come back to it. However, it’s all ( for better or for wOrSe) life changing info too.
Let’s cut to the chase. Their is less then 1 % of cosmetics that are not toxic and completely sensory friendly, that actually work in the way they claim too. Don’t worry I know them. ! 🙂 The bad news is there are 0 products sold in the US and that I’ve found sold elsewhere ( that means there could be a product avail for example in China that fits this, but, I have no knowledge of it- and I highly doubt it) that is completely sensory friendly and NON toxic completely in every ESSENTIAL cosmetic and household cleaner type. Yes, I’ve looked at cosmetics sold in other countries. Via the internet. And no, English is my ownly fluent language. The same might likely be true for laundry cleaners. I’ll remind myself of this soon and get back to you with the results if it is actually different in that product area.
To make things even worse, many cosmetics that aren’t known to be used to kill acne, prevent it, exfoliate (2 of the harshest cosmetic categories below), or keep you safe in the wilderness, have harsh household ingrediants in them at times, or main ingrediants that are used in any or any combo of those 4 other categories. Do you really want an ingrediant from your bug spray for example in your moisturizer!? I surely don’t! Need a hug yet!? I do!
What does this mean?
That means, in some of the essential categories below. What is possible, and I will do this in my book. (Among a lot of other things too) Will be recommending products that if they aren’t free of them completely. They will have at most, hopefully only a couple of them. ( I already know all the products, and have already studied all the ingrediant labels). They will all be the most current, healthiest, super sensitive, cosmetic products, sold in the US. This should go without saying but, it also means that I have used atleast once, everything I will recommend minus a couple at most. And that NONE ( except for 1/2 and there very mild reactions) of them give me any known sensory problems. And remember, I have numerous very serious sensory issues. I CAN guarantee to you, atleast that.
Essential Cosmetic/drugs types in my mind are the following
Soap/ body washes.
Baby products diapers baby wipes pacifiers etc.
Outdoor Protection products like bug spray
Acne killers and protection from it.
Non- essential cosmetics are the following
Most, possibly all Nail care
Serums Sprays Hair coloring products
Toners. Uncomfortable headbands Taning lotion
Gels Some hair dryers Perfumes Cologne
Scented clothing, particularly spa socks Scented beauty masks
I hope your paying attention cause this post is incredibly important. These definitions as stated before are not regulated. However, after spending literally atleast 45 mins on several store visits to various grocery’s, pharmacy’s, and beauty stores (Only in there cosmetic isles), and other stores that sell beauty items. And spending numerous hours online researching cosmetics, and ingrediants, along with trying several different supposively top of the line (sometimes) cosmetics and hair care over the last about 10 years. Hear is what these terms morally mean in the hair care and cosmetics industry. Hear is also, what they DON’T mean just as importantly. I can say that most manufacturers or marketing firms label these products with this moral code. I can also say although I only purchased products sold in the US and not imported. That from my own online research it seams this is fairly universal. However, the US seams to sell more variety then most if not any other country. So, it’s the easiest to see this hear.
Hypo-Allergenic -there are one or more ingrediants that tries to reverse any allergic response and is mild. If labeled this way without like I said, sensitive skin also labeled on it, and certain other things. It likely has irritants/ toxins. Hello! I’m buying a product that will give me issues yet then that will try to hide them/ fix them poorly? How does that make sense!? Just get the products without the irratants, etc. And you won’t need any hypo-allergic ingrediants. Promise! And like all the other definitions below . The product may have anything or everything else you don’t want in it. And I guarantee you if it’s made in the US and likely, anywhere else they will have some if not many of these ingrediants/ byproducts types. Like, drying and burning, stinging alcohol, scents, preservatives, toxins, fragrances, unknown additives, harsh cleaners, exfoliating ingrediants, etc.
Sensitive Skin- if a product says this along with unscented, fragrance free, alcohol free, hypoallergenic, and preservative free you’ll be GOLDEN 99% of the time if it isn’t all natural or organic. But, nearly nothing does in the US. Off course, including some preservatives occasionally, and a couple toxins max, the products I’ll recommend in my book will be in that 1% .
But, back to what it means. People who only have sensitive skin sometimes aren’t as sensitive as those with Roscia, Dyspraxia, and PSD in a combination. Or just compared to Roscia. Basically, there are certain ingrediants. That are super mild. That aren’t necessarily anti-allergenic reversal ingrediants. It means that product has atleast a couple of those mild ingrediants in it. It also may mean that they try to keep the harsher ingrediants out. Also if a product says it’s great for sensitive skin but, it doesn’t clarify for people with Roscia too, and it doesn’t say atleast, free of preservatives, alcohols, unscented, and maybe hypoallergenic. It sometimes isn’t friendly for the most sensitive skin like roscia individuals or guaranteed to be sensory friendly.
Again, it doesn’t mean the ingrediants are hypo-allergenic, alcohol free, unscented, preservative free, non toxic, fragrance free (although some occasionally are), non exfoliating, etc.
Organic or All Natural- It means no added or synthetic fragrances. It also means it’s likely to have a lot less if any by products hidden in it. It doesn’t mean it’s toxic free, unscented, alcohol free, hypoallergenic, or sensitive skin friendly, It’s at best, a product without 1 or 2 of those .
Although not helpful, in the PSD sensitivity learning process. Organic or All Natural also means. That the majority of the ingrediants or the concentration of the main ingrediants. Is great enough to have the product made organically or with all natural ingrediants. It is VERY rare for any product to be trully all natural.
Alcohol free- Aren’t always however, if they have it- it is usually the milder types of alcohol that is known to be less irritating and problematic. And those alcohol types are often disguised. Interested still?!
Unscented- provided there’s no buy products hidden in the product. And I guarantee you there 99.9 % of the time are. It will be unscented. Which means there won’t be any NATURAL fragrances or scents. So, yes, this means it won’t be organic.
Fragrance Free- It means there’s no added synthetic fragrance. Or there nasty carcinogens or by products that come with it. Yea!
The bad news,
It 99.9 % of the time guarantees there will be scents/ buy products. And very possibly a butch of other unhealthy undesired ingrediants. There maybe by products but, there won’t be tons, if there are.
Now, if you like these moral codes, you might want to stop reading this blog. Because, I certainly don’t.
